Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, Shane traveled all across the United States and Germany with his father during his military career. Finally settling down near his family in Anderson, SC, Shane married and became the proud father of two children.

In 2005, coworkers coerced him into the sport of competitive eating by timing him at lunch without his knowledge. He came in 11th place at his first eating contest in Atlanta, GA. Interestingly enough, he even tried to eat the box in his exuberance during the 2 minute qualifier. Now in his third year of Competitive Eating, Shane is going into this season with the attitude to win. He will be one to watch in the upcoming competitions.
